New Delhi and its surrounding areas experienced widespread rainfall on Wednesday. While the rain lowered temperatures, it also resulted in cloudy skies and waterlogging in various locations. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain on Thursday. The maximum temperature dropped by approximately four degrees, with Safdarjung recording a maximum of 32.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal compared to the previous day's 36.2 degrees. The minimum temperature was 25.2 degrees Celsius, similar to the seasonal average, but slightly lower than the previous day's 26.9 degrees. Humidity levels fluctuated between 70% and 100%. Most of the rain occurred between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, with Safdarjung receiving 11.3 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Other areas like Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge area, and Ayanagar also recorded varying amounts of rainfall. In Narela, 34.5 mm of rainfall was recorded, while Delhi University North Campus received 20 mm and Mayur Vihar got 3 mm during the same timeframe. Weather experts anticipate rain over the next two days, with decreasing intensity and sporadic showers. Starting from September 7 or 8, significant rainfall is not expected for at least five days, except for isolated showers. On Thursday, temperatures are projected to range between 33 and 25 degrees Celsius. The rain caused waterlogging in several areas, including Okhla and Ring Road.Water accumulation was reported in Adhchini and Dhaula Kuan areas. The Mundka area also experienced some traffic disruption, but this was quickly rectified, according to the Public Works Department (PWD) officials. A PWD official from the central flood control room mentioned that the rain was of moderate intensity, making it manageable in most areas. Approximately 52 complaints of waterlogging were received, and the majority were resolved by rapid response teams. Notably, underpasses like Minto Bridge and Pragati Maidan were relatively unaffected. There were traffic slowdowns in various parts of the city, including Ring Road towards Dhaula Kuan, Tilak Nagar, Chanakyapuri's Jesus and Mary Road, Kalindi Kunj flyover, GT Karnal Road near GTK Depot, Adhchini Red Light, Shivalik Red Light in Malviya Nagar, and Mathura Road towards Badarpur due to a broken-down bus at Madanpur Khadar.
